Point Reyes National Seashore makes every effort to keep the public informed about news events, accomplishments, employee recognitions, special and re-occurring events which occur within and around the units of the Park Service.

Point Reyes National Seashore issues news releases to local and regional newspapers, and publishes Visitor Guides and other newsletters. Park Wavelengths is a bi-weekly email that contains natural and cultural history information, notices about events and other news about the Seashore.

Elephant seals at the main colony at Point Reyes

Did You Know?
Northern elephant seals (Mirounga angustirostris) began breeding at Point Reyes in 1981 after being absent for over 150 years. The population breeds at terrestrial haul out sites at Point Reyes Headland, one of only eleven mainland breeding areas for northern elephant seals in the world.
