Things To Do

Travel Itineraries: What is special about the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail? A visit to the Web site for the Potomac Allegheny Alliance provides an introduction to the Trail network by suggesting some travel itineraries within each region. A partnership among local and state travel bureaus, Trail segment managers, and the Trail Office of the National Park Service, the site also offers a means to search for itineraries by region, activity type and theme.

Hiker’s Guide to the Potomac Heritage Trail: One of the best ways to experience the beauty, history and culture of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail network is on foot. In addition to descriptions of places, the hiking guide gives you the practical information on day trips, overnight hikes and, for those with more time, a means to travel the length of the Trail corridor.

Events: Throughout the year, many local events complement the experience of individual Trail segments. The list below provides links to organizations that maintain calendars of events. In addition, you might consider volunteer on trail-related projects.
