MOTCO Army Base Closed to NPS Memorial Tours
Restricted access MOTCO Army base is closed to all visitors planning to see the Port Chicago Naval Magazine NM. Closure dates include: April, May, June and up to the July 20th NPS comemmoration event of the explosion.

Port Chicago Naval Magazine National Memorial To help with furthering education about this site, the National Park Service does accept donations. Did You Know?
After the Port Chicago explosion on July 17, 1944, where more than 5000 tons of TNT went off, the deepwater harbor and piers were completely destroyed. Surprisingly, the harbor and pier were back up and running in a month.
