Description

The Parker Hickman home is the oldest existing homestead at Buffalo National River. It was built in about 1847-49 by brothers Greenbury and Alvin Parker. The main cabin shows meticulous half dovetail notched logs that are still as strong as the day it was built. The homestead was continuously occupied until about 1982. The farmstead includes two barns, a smokehouse, chicken coop, granary, sheds and a fine example of a 1930’s era WPA outhouse.
