The Seeds of Success Program is the core of the federal native plant materials program in that it provides seeds from many species to growers, researchers, and administrators of seed in the US, and it guides the selection of new native plant species needed in stabilization, rehabilitation, and restoration of public lands and provides documentation of where these plant materials can be found and managed. Seeds of Success also provides seed quality and germination information that is critical to the development of new native plant materials through a partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Millennium Seed Bank and opportunities for federal agencies to work with seed growers in local communities. The program began in 2001 with collections by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on public lands in the west, but rapidly expanded to 8 additional institutions, making up 35 collecting teams across the United States. All partners who collect seed for the program coordinate their collections and share their collection data with the PCA.
