Sand Dropseed is a perennial bunchgrass 11 to 40 inches tall. It grows during the late spring through the fall. Flowering occurs from July through August. Seed clusters have a light branching form. This grass is common on the Arizona Strip at elevations between 1500 and 7000 feet.
