The observation deck gallery captures the panoramic view of western Lake Erie that one would see from atop the memorial column. From this height of 352 feet Middle Bass Island, North Bass Island, Johnson's Island, Kelley's Island, Pelee Island in Canada, and the Ohio mainland of Catawba Point and Marblehead Peninsula are visible. On a clear day it is possible to see as far as Detroit, Toledo and Cleveland.

The Naval War of 1812 Illustrated... To commemorate the Bicentennial of the war, the American Society of Marine Artists has released a seven-part video, featuring the finest collection of art created over the last two hundred years to illustrate this vital era. The film is offered free to the public as an educational and entertainment documentary.

The weight of Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial column is estimated at 36,800,000 pounds (16,692 metric tons). The foundation alone consists of a concrete ring 9½ feet thick (2.9m) and 12 feet deep (3.66m) with an outside diameter of 45 feet (13.7m).
