Saturday April 18
All day: free entry into the park

All day: Calling all kids! Pick up a free extra special Junior Ranger Day patch along with your Petrified Forest National Park badge and patch! It is only available to the kids who turn their booklet in today!

9am-1pm. Did you know that April is National Kite Month? Join the park in celebrating our windy, kite flying days on the opening weekend of National Park Week. It's a fee free day so bring the whole family! The event will be held at Rainbow Forest. Bring your kite, chairs, sunscreen, water, and get ready to hold on tight! There will be a mini-kite making workshop throughout the morning. Inexpensive kites will also be available to borrow thanks to our valued partner Xanterra. Sunday April 19
All day: free entry into the park

9am-1pm: Devils Playground Hike. Join a ranger-guided walk into a newly-opened, rugged part of the park. This rugged hike is approximately four miles round trip, will last several hours, is primarily off-trail, and limited to 15 visitors (advance signup is required). To learn more and to sign up, contact Bill Parker (William_Parker@nps.gov, 928-524-6228 x262). Normal entry fee applies.

9am-11am: Happy Earth Day! Join park staff on a cleanup of the Painted Desert Visitor Center Complex. Trash bags and good cheer will be provided. Inquire at the Painted Desert Visitor Center front desk .

Thursday April 23
