Junior Ranger Days Begin at Petrified Forest National Park

Contact: Sarah Herve, 928-524-6228 x264 Petrified Forest—Visitors to the park can earn a special Junior Ranger badge and patch by participating in a variety of fun and educational activities on Saturdays this summer. Saturday, May 29th, kicks off this exciting program by inviting Junior Rangers to hike the trail at the beautiful Blue Mesa. Stop in at one of the visitor centers to get your Blue Mesa Explorer guide then hit the trail! Special activities for future Junior Ranger Days will be announced on the park website as they are offered. Did You Know?
Petrified wood was so abundant when the ancestral Puebloan people were living in the area that they used it not only for stone tools but also as building material, such as the "brick" used in Agate House at Petrified Forest National Park.
