Petrified Forest National Park Cultural Demonstration Program 2007
Petrified Forest, AZ – May 26, 2007 kicks-off the beginning of the Petrified Forest National Park Cultural Demonstration Program. This program will provide the opportunity for selected regional artists and craftspeople to share their culture, history and skills in the setting of Petrified Forest National Park. In addition to creating and selling artwork, the artists will provide a positive learning and interpretive experience for park visitors to better understand the rich diversity of cultures in the region. Each Saturday, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, will feature a cultural demonstrator.
The park invites all regional artists and craftspeople to join in sharing their traditions and skills with the visiting public. We encourage people of all cultural backgrounds to participate in the program.

Petrified wood was so abundant when the ancestral Puebloan people were living in the area that they used it not only for stone tools but also as building material, such as the "brick" used in Agate House at Petrified Forest National Park.
