Nichols paints while a visitor looks on

While in the park in early June, Liz Nichols entertained visitors while painting the landscape.

Artist Statement

The rugged and yet serene beauty on the Colorado Plateau of North America hold a unique opportunity for any artist. My ancestors were pioneers and immigrants, they chose or were chosen to come here. The diversity of cultures and the hardships endured by those that call this place home are very inspirational to me.

Enjoying the view

We live in a challenging and yet exciting time. There is a chance for humankind to reach their potential. I wish for the wild areas on our planet to survive and flourish, so that all the creatures, including ourselves, will have a chance to be wild for awhile.

Each true or beautiful scene that I witness, believing that it is a gift to me, means I should use my talent to bring it to you. Every person has a talent, and a responsibility to use that talent. If my works of art can be uplifting, encouraging, inspirational or just bring a smile to your face - then I have fulfilled my purpose and am pleased.
