Petrified Forest National Park Science and Education Center Lecture Series, February 2008

Petrified Forest, AZ ― Petrified Forest National Park Museum Curator T. Scott Williams will be providing a presentation titled “Petrified Forest National Park: Documenting 100 Years of Change through Re-photography” based on the recent re-photography project he has been conducting at the park utilizing photography taken in the past 120 years. The project has concentrated primarily on the park landscapes showing environmental change through the processes of erosion and by human impact on the land. This project also provides a deeper insight on the history of the park. The presentation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, and will be held at the Painted Desert Visitor Center Community Building in Petrified Forest National Park. The visitor center is located at Exit 311 on Interstate Highway 40.  This presentation is open to the public and admission is free.

The Petrified Forest National Park Science and Education Center was established to bring park visitors and researchers together to foster understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural resources of the park and the Colorado Plateau. Lectures are held the first Wednesday of each month on a variety of topics including geology, paleontology, archaeology, and biology.
