Lake Mead Success Story

In 2003, Lake Mead National Recreation Area tapped $23 million in funds over and above the parks appropriated budget. While a substantial portion of these related to the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act annual funds, Lake Mead NRA has developed a systematic and strategic approach which has benefited the park's resources and visitors.

Their grant funding sources include:

  • Nevada Department of Wildlife - in cooperation with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service
Sport Fish Restoration Program and the Clean Vessel Act
  • Arizona Game and Fish Dept - in cooperation with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service
    Arizona Boating Access Fund
  • Nevada Dept of Transportation
    TEA 21
  • Bureau of Reclamation
    Title 28
  • Clark County
    Multi-species Habitat Conservation Plan
  • Bureau of Land Management
Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act

The $23 million is supporting a variety of projects specific to Lake Mead National Recreation Area:
