In 2003, Lake Mead National Recreation Area tapped $23 million in funds over and above the parks appropriated budget. While a substantial portion of these related to the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act annual funds, Lake Mead NRA has developed a systematic and strategic approach which has benefited the park's resources and visitors.
Their grant funding sources include:
