The Grant-Kohrs Ranch in winter

GRANT-KOHRS RANCH NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

White ranch house with a white fence in the foreground.

The ranch house was built in 1862 by John Grant and used as a trading post with neighboring tribes and western settlers. Grant later sold the house to German immigrant named Conrad Kohrs who used the ranch to grow beef to supply his butcher shops. Kohrs later became one of the cattle kings of the West grazing over 50,000 head of cattle on 10,000,000 acres of open range.
