BANDELIER NATIONAL MONUMENT

Tyuonyi Pueblo

Beginning in the 1100s, Ancestral Pueblo people began settling in the Bandelier area. By the 1300s they were building large villages such as this on in Frijoles Canyon, near the Visitor Center. By the 1500s, the people had moved on, settling in nearby villages along the Rio Grande.
