Travel in the monument requires visitors to be self-reliant and flexible. When entering the monument you need to have everything you need for a safe and comfortable trip. There are many reasons for delays and travel plans should remain flexible. You should take enough food and water to remain in the monument for an extended amount of time, possibly several days. It is also a good idea to have a backup plan with maps in case of unforeseen events. Before leaving contact the Public Lands Office for updates and advisories.
