The National Park Service will turn 98 on Monday, August 25th. Park entry will be free on that day.
But the birthday celebration will take place on Saturday, August 23rd, at Padre Island National Seashore! Events begin with Hidden Treasures, a program in which participants help capture and release live creatures in the surf, at 11 am. At 12:30 pm, our Arts in the Park program will demonstrate and teach watercolor painting. This program is limited to 20 participants (others can watch). Then at 1 pm, a ranger will give a Deck Talk, showing and talking about some of the fascinating items that have been found in the park. All programs are free and materials are provided.
To sign up for the Arts in the Park program, call the Malaquite Visitor Center between 9 am and 5 pm (Central time) starting Wednesday, August 20th. Come and find your national park at Padre Island National Seashore!
