Camping on Padre Island

A burn ban is presently in effect. Only contained gas fires are permitted until further notice.

Burn Ban update September 13, 2011:

- no open ground fires

- no wood fires

- All grills provided by the park cannot be used for grilling during this time

- visitors may ONLY use gas grill equipped with a lid
- the lid is for wind events, flame ups and to smother the fire when they are finished cooking

Texas hits a record 249 counties with outdoor burn bans as the heat wave and drought continues.
There is no end in sight for the BURN BAN

All campgrounds are open year-round. No reservations are accepted, as camping is first-come, first-served. Campers must have a camping permit, which is available from the kiosks at the entrance of each campground or from a campground host at Malaquite Campground and Bird Island Basin.

There are no public RV hook-ups anywhere in the park, but an RV dump station and a water filling station are available for all campers staying in the park.

Camping is permitted only in the five camping areas available for public use. Please see the individual campground descriptions below for more details.
