(Corpus Christi, Texas)- Superintendent Joe Escoto announced today Padre Island National Seashore will host a public meeting at 7:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Malaquite Visitor Center Auditorium to discuss the following proposed projects:

  • Handicap accessible interpretive trail, boardwalk, and parking area near the Novillo Line Camp
  • Bird Island Basin shoreline and road improvements

Members of the Park’s management team will provide a presentation and lead a discussion on the proposed projects.  “This meeting will not only provide the public an opportunity to comment on current proposed projects, but will also aid park management in considering reasonable alternatives and potential impacts” said Superintendent Joe Escoto.  “The park is planning more meetings and is optimistic these forums will establish a line of communication with the public.”

Input on these projects will be considered for the National Environmental Policy Act compliance process for the projects.  For more information, please call Chief of Science and Resources Management, James Lindsay at 361-949-8173, extension 223.
