We Need You Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park needs you. By offering your time, or just by visiting the park and its bookstore, you can help us continue to preserve and interpret this important historical site. Donate Monetary donations are graciously accepted and directly benefit the park. Your donation will enhance programs and activities and help to provide visitor services for Palo Alto Battlefield. Philanthropic contributions continue to make a significant difference and we welcome and are grateful for your support.One hundred percent of donated funds stay in this park. Palo Alto is able to accept direct donations. If you are interested in donating directly to the park, you may contact the Superintendent for more information or send donations to: Superintendent 956-541-2785 x 222 Bookstore Palo Alto Battlefield operates a Western National Parks Association sales outlet in the park Visitor Center. The sales area offers visitors a wide selection of titles related to the history of the U.S./Mexican War. The store also offers a variety of other titles, from nature guides to cookbooks, souvenirs, and a section for younger readers. A portion of all sales is returned to the park to support interpretive programs and activities. Volunteer Palo Alto could not accomplish many of its projects and goals without the valuable assistance of volunteers. Are you interested in helping out? The park has volunteer activities that fit any interest, from visitor contact positions to maintenance and resource management projects. Did You Know?
Major Jacob Brown was one of many U.S. soldiers who marched to war with his dog beside him. When soldiers buried Major Brown in the earthworks at Fort Texas, the dog—a beagle—took up a position on his master’s grave and refused to move from the spot for days.
