  • Big Spring area will be closed Nov 8 & 9 and Dec 12 - 14

    The Big Spring area will be temporarily closed to ensure public safety during the Wounded Warrior managed hunt November 8-9 and the managed archery hunt December 12-14.

Permits

A Commercial Use Authorization is required in most cases for anyone doing business within the park. This includes anyone wishing to provide commercial activities such as temporary food vending, guided horse rides, fishing trips, guided backpacking, etc. Some activities may be managed under a Concessions Contract.

A Special Use Permit is required for special activities that take place in the park such as weddings, scattering of cremains, First Amendment activities, commercial photography, and other activities.

Cane brakes are thick stands of rivercane, which is much like bamboo. The endangered Swainson's Warbler nests in these thickets.
