  • Alley Mill Closed for Renovations

    The Alley Mill will be undergoing renovations much of summer of 2014. It will be open daily through Aug 17 and then only on weekends after that. There will be fencing around the Mill which will prevent close access. More »

Fire education programs are an important key to informing and educating park visitors, employees, agency partners, and the public about wildland fire, prescribed fire, and the fire management program at Ozark Riverways. The Fire Communication and Education Specialist is available to provide educational and informational programs and lessons on a variety of topics related to wildland fire. Program options include, but are not limited to:

  • Science lessons on how fire benefits our plants and animals
  • Careers in wildland fire management
  • Why and how we do prescribed burns
  • Suppressing wildfires
  • Smokey Bear lessons
  • Fire prevention
  • Junior Firefighter activities and badges for kids
The Fire Communication and Education Specialist is available to work with educators to develop lessons that align with the curriculum or to provide an activity that supplements classroom learning. For information on fire education programs or presentations, please contact (573)323-8028.
