U.S. Forest Service, Roan Mountain-Carver's Gap
Rugged mountain trails, famous rhododendron gardens at Carver's Gap, Appalachian National Scenic Trail passes through area and crosses historic trail route in Yellow Mountain Gap. From Yellow Mountain Gap, follow blue-blazed side trail west down to Roan Mountain State Park or east down along Roaring Creek into North Toe River valley, passing Overmountain men's camping site second night of march from Sycamore Shoals.
