Ajo, Arizona –Effective October 1, 2015 registration for Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument will take place at the campground itself, instead of at the Kris Eggle Visitor Center. Campers will no longer have to register in person at the Visitor Center, and will be able to self-register 24 hours a day at the campground.

"Switching Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground to self- registration will make things more
efficient for visitors. Under the old system, campers would have to drive past the campground to the visitor center, and then backtrack 10 miles to the campground," said Fee Manager Charlie Kolb." Also, under the old system, campers could only register while the visitor center was open, making it difficult for visitors who had traveled a long distance."

Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground is a small, 4 site campground at the mouth of Alamo Canyon. Camping fees are $10 per night in addition to the monument's entrance fee of $12. Holders of the Interagency Senior or Access Pass receive a 50 percent discount on camping fees. As a reminder, Alamo Canyon is a primitive campground, therefore no RVs, trailers, or generators are allowed.
