Charles Harrison to Visit Oregon Caves
|
Oregon Caves Welcomes Guest Speaker From September 24th to the 28th, Oregon Caves National Monument and the Oregon Caves Outfitters are proud to host Charles Harrison. Harrison has been involved in the design of more than 750 consumer products, including toasters, stereos, the first portable hair dryer, the see-through measuring cup, Craftsman tools, and the first plastic garbage can—something for nearly every area of the home. He redesigned the now classic View-Master, which was invented at Oregon Caves in 1938. The public is invited free of charge to hear his talk on the View-Master and his career. He will speak at the Chateau lobby at 7 p.m. on September 25th, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday the 26th. Did You Know?
The stream that comes out of the entrance of the cave is a tributary to a watershed that empties into the Pacific Ocean. There are no human-made obstructions that would prevent salmon migration, which makes this the only cave in the National Park Service with an unobstructed link to the ocean.
