If you are between the ages of 3 - 5, become a Chickaree Ranger at Oregon Caves National Monument and start working toward becoming a full fledged Junior Ranger!

To earn your Chickaree Button at Oregon Caves National Monument you need to:

  1. complete the Junior Ranger Chickaree Booklet, 3374 KB Adobe Reader File
  2. have a Ranger review the booklet
  3. complete the Junior Ranger pledge

Once you’re sworn in you will receive you’re Button and you’ll be on your way to becoming a full fledged Junior Ranger.

As a Chickaree Ranger you’ll have responsibilities to help you work towards your Junior Ranger Badge. Some of the responsibilities you’ll have as a Chickaree Ranger include: ·

  • Wear your Chickaree Ranger Button proudly.
  • Help protect plants and animals in the forest by staying on the trails.
  • Pick up any litter you see and DO NOT litter.
  • Leave what you find.
  • Leave rocks, plants, animals, archaeological artifacts, and other objects as you find them.

The Rangers at Oregon Caves are looking forward to meeting you.

The vista from Mount Elijah looks to the Red Buttes wilderness, Mount Shasta and other scenic vistas.  

Did You Know?
One of the most spectacular vistas near Oregon Caves is located on Mount Elijah. The hike is strenuous if you start at the monument but the staff at the Visitor Center can direct you to another, less strenuous trail to the mountain.
