Backcountry Permits: Required for overnight trips - Obtain at Staircase Ranger Station. Permits are limited between May 1 and September 30 in this area. See Reservations.

Please camp only in established camps or on bare ground to prevent vegetation damage.

Elevation Change: 3900 ft. to 5050 ft.
Best Season:  July through October

Special Concerns  
Leave No Trace: Please Leave No Trace of your stay to help protect park resources and to prevent further camping regulations. Camp on bare ground only. Vegetation is very fragile.
Camping: Prevent vegetation damage by camping on bare ground.
Fires: Campfires are not allowed in this area.
Wildlife Precautions:
Save the Bears! Secure your food, garbage and scented items from all wildlife 24 hours a day to protect bears and yourself. Do not feed any wild animals! Bear canisters recommended in this area.
Safety:  When traveling on snow, bring an ice axe and know how to use it.
