	Mt. Olympus General Location: 30 miles southwest of Forks, WA. Trailhead: Hoh trailhead Notices: Groups of more than 6 are required to camp in designated "Group Camps". Stock parties are required to camp in designated "Stock Sites" along the Hoh River Trail.	Be a Wilderness Steward. Always Leave No Trace of your stay in the wilderness. 	Ecosystem type: Alpine zone, glacier Trail tread types: Climbing routes not maintained or marked. General elevation trend: Flat to steep, depending on route. River crossings: None Unique features: Third largest glacier system in the 48 contiguous states. Wettest place in the 48 states. Mt. Olympus receives over 100 feet of snow per year. Level of difficulty: Moderate to strenuous Distance: 17 miles to Glacier Meadows, 4-6 hours one way to summit from Glacier Meadows. Elevation change: 4,300 ft. to 7,980 feet Best Season: June through July

	Permits/Reservations: Obtain permits by phone at the WIC in Port Angeles or in person at the Hoh Visitor Center. Reservations should be made for parties of 7 or more persons and for groups with stock animals. All other sites are first come, first served. Reservations may be made by calling the WIC. Climbers should sign climber register at the Glacier Meadows Ranger Station when beginning climb. Food Storage Method: bear canisters required in areas where food cannot be hung at least 12 feet high and 10 feet out from the . Location and sites: Glacier Meadows, Caltech Moraine. No camping on lateral moraine of Blue Glacier. Toilet Facilities: Please use blue bags to pack human waste off mountain. A blue bag receptacle is located on the lateral moraine of the blue glacier. Water Source: Blue Glacier Stock: N/A
	Special Concerns
	Leave No Trace: Leave No Trace of your stay to protect vegetation and prevent further camping regulations. Avoid camping on vegetation in alpine zone. These plants may only have 1-3 months growing season and are very fragile. Fires: Campfires are not permitted above Martin Creek on the Hoh River trail or above 3,500 feet in other areas. Respect Wildlife: To protect bears and other wildlife, all food, garbage and scented items must be secured from all wildlife 24 hours a day.
	Safety
