If you have questions about trails, permits, reservations, quotas, food storage requirements, weather or other Wilderness related questions, contact a park ranger at the Wilderness Information Center (WIC) in Port Angeles.

Hours: through March 31, 2007 the Wilderness Information Center in Port Angeles is open 9-4 Saturdays and 8-4:30 most Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

(Permits and bear canisters are available at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center in Port Angeles Thursday through Monday from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.)

Directions: Follow U.S. Highway 101 to Port Angeles. Once in Port Angeles, watch for sign to Olympic National Park Visitor Center. Follow Race St. to Visitor Center. The WIC is located directly behind the Visitor Center at 3002 Mt. Angeles Rd.

Services provided by the Wilderness Information Center:

Wilderness (Backcountry) Camping Permits for all of Olympic National Park.

Advance reservations for limited use wilderness areas within Olympic National Park.

Wilderness trip planning assistance (trail information, trail conditions, safety concerns).

Wilderness education (Leave No Trace, food storage, safety).

Bear Canisters are available for loan. A suggested $3 per canister donation helps to perpetuate the program and provide education materials.

We sell topographic maps, guide books, field guides and have free tide charts.
