"Larry has been a constant and stalwart presence on the board of the Friends," said Olympic National Park Acting Superintendent Todd Suess."His unique insights and his deep commitment to connecting people with the park will be deeply missed."

Stetson was a founding board member of the Friends and served as the group's president for several terms. He was a strong advocate for public service and was instrumental in reaching out both to military veterans and to park volunteers. No stranger to hard work, Stetson helped lead the Friends' participation in the annual Washington Coast Cleanup.

"We won't easily forget Larry's commitment to the cleanup or his colorful descriptions of the work involved in clearing marine debris from Duk Point, " remarked Suess."We're grateful for Larry's active role and his friendship over the years and extend our deepest sympathies to his family."

A celebration of life and gathering of friends and family is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, August 17 at Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park.Larry is survived by his wife Dolores; his six children, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
