Multi Park Landscape Preservation Teams

In collaboration with parks and historic properties, the Olmsted Center assists with addressing critical cultural landscape maintenance. These partnerships, unique within the National Park Service, help to share staff expertise to effectively improve the condition of landscapes. At the request of site managers, the Olmsted Center organizes multi-park teams of landscape maintenance and resource management specialists to assist with field projects. Every project accomplishes critical landscape preservation maintenance, provides training for participants and resident site staff, and strengthens the network between practitioners.

• Building a network of preservation maintenance professionals to share knowledge, experience, equipment, and other resources

• Bringing together a team of skilled landscape maintenance employees to assist parks that lack the capacity to accomplish preservation maintenance projects on their own

• Providing a cost-effective, resource-sensitive approach to improving the condition of cultural landscapes

• Providing on-the-job training and education to project participants and host park staff
