The Obed Wild and Scenic River will be hosting a small mammal children's program at the Obed Visitor Center, located at 208 North Maiden Street in downtown Wartburg on Saturday, January 24. This free event will begin at 1 p.m. (EST), and no reservations are necessary. This program is for children from preschool age to approximately third grade. Participants will learn about the many different small mammals which call the Obed their home, including the beaver, bobcat, fox, muskrat, opossum, raccoon, squirrel, skunk, and rabbit. Children will get a chance to pet the fur pelts of these animals. Following the ranger talk, children will color pictures of their favorite small mammals. This program should last between 60 and 90 minutes.
