Fee-free Camping Day

WARTBURG, Tennessee: The Obed Wild and Scenic River announces a fee-free day at the Rock Creek Campground on Monday, January 21st, in honor of Martin Luther King Day. Anyone camping at the campground on that day should write "fe--free" on their registration envelopes prior to placing them in the box at the bulletin board. The Obed Visitor Center, located at 208 North Maiden Street in downtown Wartburg, will be open during normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on Martin Luther King Day.

Did you know that when Native Americans first came across the Obed, they realized that the ground was too steep for settlement and too rough for farming? They did, however, rely on the Obed for hunting, and used the bluffs for shelter.
