National Register Publications

You can learn more about the National Register through the variety of publications that we offer. Our National Register Bulletin series provides guidance on evaluating, documenting, and listing different types of historic places. Electronic versions of the National Register Nomination Form are also available for you to download. We offer several books and videos which describe properties already listed and different approaches to evaluating our past, such as African American Historic Places and American Legacy: The Work of the National Register of Historic Places. Related publications, such as the Travel Itineraries and Teaching With Historic Places lesson plans, highlight specific National Register sites within topical and geographic contexts. Several editions of the National Park Service's CRM magazine, are available that deal specifically with National Register issues. While many of our publications are available in electronic format through this website, others are produced in hard copy only. To obtain any of these hard copy publications, or one of our videos, simply print out an ORDER FORM, and mail in your request.
