Nate’s official title for the National Park Service is “EGIS & Web Mapping Coordinator”, but he spends a majority of his time leading the NPMap team and playing the role of developer on partner web mapping projects.
Nate has worked for the National Park Service in some capacity since he graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations. He moved to Denver in 2006, after working at Petersburg National Battlefield in Virginia, and initial work on NPMap started soon after. Nate also has a graduate certificate in GIS from Pennsylvania State University.
When he’s not playing soccer, running on trails, snow skiing, listening to bluegrass music, or playing in the water, Nate is likely messing around with a new technology and working to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of web mapping. He particularly enjoys making web maps better looking, faster, and more efficient and accessible. His newest interests include cartography and web design.
