Ranger Marieke shares raven story with Junior Rangers
The interpretive staff at North Cascades National Park present a wide variety of programs. Exploration tables at the Visitor Center have hands-on activities with an Interpretive Park Ranger from 10 am-noon and 2 pm-4 pm during the summer. Park Rangers will also be sharing great insights about the park on board Diablo Lake Adventures. Afterwards, they lead a guided hike along Trail of the Cedars at 3:15 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A Park Ranger will also host visitors and answer questions at Diablo Lake Overlook during summer afternoons from 2 pm -4 pm.
During the spring and fall Artists-in-Residence immerse themselves in the Park while sharing their artistry with the public. Becky Fletcher is our current local Artist who will be doing two solo shows during 2009. In September, her work will be on display at the North Cascades Visitor Center as a celebration for the kick off of the PBS Series "The National Parks: America's Best Idea". She also is working on a large piece to contribute to the North Cascades Visitor Center.
Eight North Cascades' life zones may be previewed and explored through models and videos, with large print and translations of captions available. Also, a theatre program may be available by request in the Visitor Center. A Skagit Watershed Letterbox Quest and a Newhalem area quest via Letterbox.org are available through mid- October.
