After a great summer season celebrating the 40th Anniversary of North Cascades National Park Service Complex, visitor services in Stehekin are beginning to wind down for the winter. Golden West Visitor Center hours will be reduced to follow the changing Lady of the Lake ferry schedule. The National Park Service concession restaurant and accommodations, Stehekin Landing Resort, will close for the winter on October 31.

Visitors are reminded to bring their own lunch and food items with them to Stehekin. Limited lunch and snacks items are available on the Lady Express. Visitors traveling by personal boat must have enough gas for the 100 mile round-trip from Chelan since the commercial gas sales at the Stehekin marina will also close for the winter on October 31. The docks at Weaver Point Campground have been removed for the season due to low lake levels and water at the campground has been turned off. Fall hikers can still camp at Weaver, but must filter their drinking water.

Beginning November 1, the Golden West Visitor Center will be open 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and will follow the boat schedule throughout the winter. National Park Service Rangers will greet ferry passengers at the landing and be available in the visitor center for information.

The reduced concession operating season is an effort to reduce expenditures. By focusing resources on the main summer and shoulder seasons, the Stehekin Landing Resort and the National Park Service are building a sustainable, economically viable long term business that provides quality visitor services. Limited food, lodging and gas services will be available starting March 1, 2009.
