Crescent Creek Basin- Degenhardt Peak

7/19-7/24  2017  Crescent Cr Basin ( Dagenhardt Pk)

Approach to Crescent Cr Basin.
Getting to the crossing of Terror Creek from Goodell (old logging road) follows a faint climber’s path with sparse flagging and requires careful navigation.  Log was very wet and slipper so fording Terror Creek can be a safer option depending on flow level.  Route from Terror Creek crossing up to top of ridge (start of the Barrier) is steep and relentless.  Climber’s route along the Barrier is also not very obvious in places but staying close to the edge until you are clear of the forested section will get you in the right place for the final push to the saddle below Pinnacle Pk.  Good bivy site at the saddle however getting to running water required a bit of effort.

Pinnacle Pk Saddle to Dagenhardt.
Firm snow (crampons for early morning start) from  saddle down into Crescent Cr Basin.  Traverse of the basin was on mix of snow and rocks.  Best approach to Dagenhardt for us was to go up couloir between SE ridge of Terror Pk and Dagenhardt.  From there traverse just below NW ridge to start of short class 5 climb.  Lots of loose rock on approach and on the route.  Scramble down from summit to rappel station.  One single rope rappel will get you back down to start of climb.
