A 20-person hand crew from the Northern Great Plains went to Mesa Verde National Park on a fire severity staffing assignment during August 2002.

We didn't see much fire while we were there. Most of our time was spent on project work in the park.

The crew did respond to a fire in a wood chip pile near Mancos, Colorado.
The scenery was definitely different than what we were used to in the Northern Great Plains.
We did get an opportunity to tour some of the ruins in the park.
