The past seven years, a workshop has been organized to bring together ecologists and botanists working in the Black Hills area. Specifically, the scope of these workshops is botany, plant ecology, forest ecology, and vegetation monitoring in and around the Black Hills. Participants have included those from federal and state agencies, universities, private sector, and nongovernment organizations. These meetings give participants an opportunity to meet others doing similar work, share ideas, network, and possibly lead to collaboration and/or cooperation.
