The first prescribed fire was conducted on April 22, 2008. The park has been divided into 4 burn units.

Fire Effects Monitoring Results

The fire effects monitoring crew has begun to install monitoring plots at Agate Fossil Beds. It will take 1 to 2 growing seasons after the initiation of prescribed fire to have results from the monitoring program.

 

Weather

Weather forecasting for Agate Fossil Beds is covered by the National Weather Service office at Cheyenne, WY. There are two automated weather stations here, one RAWS station and one NOAA station.
