Northeast Regional Office

The Northeast Regional Office is headquartered in Philadelphia in the U.S. Custom House, the tallest building in the historic area, on the southwest corner of Second and Chestnut Streets. The Independence National Historic Park Visitor's Center is located in the same block to the west; Penn's Landing, Philadelphia's recreational and cultural riverfront park on the Delaware River, is a city block to the eastin Philadelphia.. In addition to Philadelphia, regional office staff are located in downtown Boston, Lowell National Historical Park, Boston National Historical Park, Pennsylvania State University, University of Rhode Island, Fire Island National Seashore, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, and other locations throughout the region.

Directions to the Philadelphia Office

CAR -
From the North: Using I-95, take exit 22 and go South on Second Street (Second Street is one-way southbound). Cross Market Street (the first major crossroads; it is flanked by subway entrances on both sides). Chestnut Street is the next cross-street. The tall 1930's building across Chestnut on your right is the Custom House.

From the West: Using I-76 West (the Schuylkill Expressway-pronounced school-kill), exit onto I-676, the Vine Street Expressway. (It is marked on the overhead Interstate signage as Center City.) Take I-676 to Sixth Street and the Historic Area. Turn right at bottom of the ramp and follow Sixth Street (one way southbound) four blocks to Chestnut Street. Turn left on Chestnut Street (one way eastbound); go to Second Street. The Custom House will be on your right at the corner of Second and Chestnut.

From the South: From I-95 North, take the exit marked "Historic Area". Follow the signs for 6th Street. Take 6th Street (it is one-way southbound) to Chestnut Street and turn left. Take Chestnut Street (it is one-way eastbound) and turn left. The Custom House will be on your right at the corner of Second and Chestnut.

From the East: Take the Benjamin Franklin Bridge (US 30). As you exit the bridge, follow the signs to 6th Street and the Historic Area. Follow 6th Street south to Chestnut Street (it is one-way eastbound) to Second Street. The Custom House will be on your right.

Parking: The most convenient parking is in the parking garage on Second Street between Chestnut Street and Walnut.

AMTRAK TRAIN -
You will arrive at 30th Street Station in West Philadelphia. If you are traveling light, the subway is the fastest and cheapest method of getting to us. Follow the signs to the Frankford-Market Line. (You will leave the train station and cross 30th Street to your west.) See "Septa's Subway Service" below for further directions.

If the subway is impractical, taxis are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. Ask the driver to take you to Second and Chestnut.

SEPTA’S SUBWAY SERVICE -
From 30th Street Station, Suburban Station or Market East Station, take the Market-Frankford Subway east to 2nd Street. Go through the turnstile and
take stairs to your right. At the top of the stairs, turn left and round the corner of the diner. Walk south along Second Street (you will not cross Market Street) to the end of the block. The Custom House will be across the street to your right on the southwest corner of Second and Chestnut Streets. For fare information, consult www.septa.com.

SEPTA’S REGIONAL RAIL SERVICE -
You may disembark at 30th Street Station, Suburban Station, or Market East Station. Market East Station is the closest to our office and offers ready access to the Market-Frankford Subway Line. Proceed east on the Subway to Second Street as described above. For fare information, consult www.septa.com.

PLANE -
If you are traveling light, you can take the airport train. If not, taxis are plentiful and will cost about $25 to our office for the cab, not per passenger. Ask the driver to take you to Second and Chestnut.

If you choose the train, follow the airport signs to the SEPTA Airport Express Train Line. It is located between the main terminals and the baggage pickup areas. See "Septa's Subway Service" and "Septa's Regional Rail Service" above for further directions.
