_________________________ This report is the first in a series that will assemble and describe the unique and significant characteristics of the natural environment of each of the island clusters as they are currently known. Ongoing research that will contribute to our understanding of these unique resources will also be described. This report provides a brief synthesis of the natural history of the outer islands comprising the Brewster island cluster, including the geology; the status of the flora, including vascular plants, lichens and bryophytes, and marine algae; and the status of the fauna, including marine mammals, birds, macrolepidoptera and other insects. An inventory of mammals, amphibians and reptiles, insects and other invertebrates on the Boston Harbor Islands is ongoing at the writing of this report. ___________________________ The entire report is available to view or download in PDF file format.
