Lucia King's Photo of Union Station in St. Louis overlooking Grand Hall

2007 Midwest Region Winner
St. Louis Union Station
St. Louis, Missouri
Photographer: Lucia King

Lucia King's winning photo of the St. Louis Union Station overlooking Grand Hall captures the majesty of the architect, Theodore C. Link's design. Erected in 1892-94, Union Station and its Terminal Hotel is the country's finest surviving example of the High Victorian picturesque eclectic style as applied to railroad stations in the 19th century. The adjoining single-vault, steel trainshed, designed by the engineer George H. Pegram to cover 32 tracks, was the largest such structure erected in this country during the last century..
