Erected in 1844,
this two-story adobe ranch house is an excellent example of Monterey
Colonial architecture. The house is similar to a traditional Mexican
hacienda with a u-shaped plan surrounding a large patio. The house
was restored in 1930 and purchased by the City of Long Brach in
1955 and is open to the public as a house museum.

USS Arizona was
moored in Pearl Harbor when it was sunk by a Japanese bomb on the
morning of December 7, 1941. In 1961, a shrine was erected over
the submerged remains of the ship in memory of all those who died.

The home to one
of the first "stars," Madame Helena Modjeska lived here
from 1888 until 1906. This wooden cottage was originally a pioneer
cabin that today is a centerpiece of a county park.
