What is Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

Integrated pest management is a resource management approach which seeks to maximize the use of natural controls on vertebrate, arthropod and vegetative pests while minimizing the use of short-term chemical treatments.   In practice, IPM incorporates monitoring, injury levels and treatment strategies into an overall decision making process which can be tailored to a particular pest problem at a particular park site.
