Friendship Sets Sail
A 1700's Voyage On August 7th The Friendship set sail on an 8 day round trip between Salem Harbor and the Youth Summit in New York's Gateway National Recreation Area. The Friendship was originally built in 1797, and was rebuilt to historical specifications by the National Park Service. The voyage is a collaborative effort between the NPS Student Career Intern Program of Boston, and the NPS Youth Intern Program of New York. It set sail full of Youth Rangers reliving one of its common historic voyages, a trade route running from Salem Massachusetts, to New York City, and back again.
