The National Park Service will be conducting several activities during the 2013 National Scout Jamboree scheduled July 15th through 24th at the Summit Bechtel Reserve adjacent to the park. The park is recruiting for volunteers to: assist with trail building and supervising of scouts constructing new trail; to operate the park's visitor centers including Canyon Rim in the north district and Sandstone Visitor Center in the south district; and to staff information tents at the Summit Center during the Jamboree.
For each of the three volunteer service projects, park staff will provide one-day training in June, with several dates to be determined, to provide interested volunteers an orientation to the park and its resources and detailed information about the volunteer experiences. Park staff is seeking volunteers who are able to commit at least two days of service during the Jamboree, plus the additional training day. Trail volunteers will work 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM; visitor center volunteers will work 8:45 AM to 5:15 PM; and tent volunteers will work the longest day from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM since they will be shuttled on and off the Summit property.
