Park ranger presents program to school group at Canyon Rim Visitor Center

New River Gorge National River invites you and your students to participate in our environmental education program. We offer curriculum-based, ranger-led educational programs both in the classroom and at the park as well as a number of on-site (in-park), ranger-led education programs. All programs are free of charge and open to all schools and teachers.

Environmental education programs offered by New River Gorge National River promote the protection of the natural and cultural resources within the park, and within the environment as a whole. Each program gives students a hands-on opportunity to learning about the environment that surrounds them. Programs support the West Virginia Standards for Learning.

Curriculum-Based Education Programs
The Park’s Educational staff offers a series of curriculum-based, ranger-led educational programs for kindergarten through eighth grade students. Programs are available throughout the school year.

On-Site (In-Park) Education Programs

Also offered are a variety of on-site, ranger-led education programs at seven different locations within the park.
