Details:

In the latter half of the year 1774, the freeholders and farmers of the Massachusetts countryside were becoming radicalized. Well informed, well organized, and pushed to the limit, their unrest would prove fatal to British authority in the Bay Colony.

Minute Man National Historical Park, in partnership with the 10th Massachusetts Regiment, is pleased to bring you 1774: The Gathering Storm, a living history event focusing on that turbulent, momentous, and largely overlooked year in the making of America. The event will feature the participation of a select group historical reenactment units.

Learn about the closing of the Port of Boston. See its effect on the local economy. Hear the personal stories of displaced refugees. Witness the re-organization of the Massachusetts Militia, the resignation of officers, the formation of the elite minute man companies, and the defiant rise of home manufacture as local communities dig in and prepare for the worst. Most of all, we invite you to immerse yourself in the period and see those long-ago times for what they were - revolutionary!
